Remember the lovely Mimi & Marge? From the cute set of four mismatched earrings to the elegant necklaces and classic rings, this Vancouver based jeweller is unforgettable.
Kenda, the designer behind Mimi & Marge, goes to Bali, Indonesia three times a year with her two daughters. Mimi & Marge oversees the production and manufacturing of the jewelry in Bali. Collaborating with local craftsmen and artisans, she tries to create new and unique designs each season by mixing handcrafted work with modern design.
Using sterling silver, gold vermeil 24k, and a variety of local materials like Sono wood and Mother of Pearl, many of the designs are fabricated.
Along with designing fun and timeless accessories with local craftsmen, Mimi + Marge still finds time to give back to Indonesian community. Since 1998, they have been donating food and money to an orphanage of 29 children run by one family without any government funding - the Sovitry Orphanage. In addition, all sales from the Mimi + Marge Bawa Dog Pendant (not in store currently) go to the Bali Animal Welfare Association (BAWA). Mimi + Marge is also involved with Bali WISE (Women of Indonesia Skills Education) - and proudly sponsoring two young women from Indonesia. The training programs assist more than 110 women each year for improved employment opportunities through programs including Basic Work and Life Skills, Vocational Skills Training, and Gender Equality workshops and seminars.
